Turbo Blast
Plastic Media Blasting Machine
The TURBO BLAST system is a automated system that runs six (6) wheels per cycle. It occupies approximately 575 square feet of floor space, with the blasting machine occupying about 89 square feet of the total. It is about 25’ tall. The system is comprised of the TURBO BLAST, dust collector, touch up cabinet and controls. TURBO BLAST is manufactured using ¼” rolled steel.
The biggest benefit to the TURBO BLAST system is the fact that it does not use compressed air. The machine is designed to run with a blower system for movement of plastic media within the cabinet. No compressor means that the media runs oil and moisture free, there is no buying additional air compressors, repair and maintenance of compressors and it is cheaper to run electrically.
TURBO BLAST is fully automatic. You load in your wheels, latch the door and start the cycle. The controls are easy to understand and use. Each nozzle is independently controlled for fine tuning to your operation. The settings will not change once they are set. Controls are tamper-proof as they are contained inside a locking panel. The control panel is also designed so that you can troubleshoot via an internet modem from the manufacturer.
Approximately 2,000 pounds of media can be loaded into the hopper. The media hopper is equipped with a light and a level sight glass to view media. Plastic media runs with fewer elbows to navigate which extends the life of the media. The feed rate of the media is adjustable at each nozzle. In addition, TURBO BLAST can run granulated material. The larger particles are just as effective, and save money on buying “finished” material.
TURBO BLAST can be run with one person. Simply place the wheels on the rotating table (with a “jog” feature), clamp them into place, and close the door. The machine locks itself down and cycles down upon completion.
The same operator inspects the wheels and restacks them for shipping. Any touch up that may be required, can be done while the second cycle runs.
TURBO BLAST is so efficient due to the high dust removal. The Farr dust collector incorporated in the system is custom built for this application. Ensuring good clean media is important to the blasting process. You don’t want to blast with dust.
The touch up cabinet is also incorporated into the dust collector. It is mounted to the machine stand for handling efficiency.
Some other important features of TURBO BLAST include easy access side door, as well as an access door in the front of the machine. There is also an access door to the media return area to clear any paper, etc. obstructions. Ladders to the upper deck are incorporated into the design as well. The upper work platform provides convenient access to the cyclone, blower, and plastic media hopper as well. Safety measures include a trap door and handrails.
